Retirement Gifts For Golfers

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

There is a commonly-held notion that golf is a pastime and sport of big shot entrepreneurs and businessmen. It also has the reputation of being an exclusive, elite sport that is not accessible to regular blue collared employees. However, this is not really the case as modernization and commercialization have brought this so called elite sport into the reach of the common worker.

This is because you don’t need to acquire sophisticated equipment to join in. Unlike big game fishing and polo which require a lot of resources – a boat and a horse respectively, golfers just require a set of golf clubs, which are affordable these days. With this in mind, retirement gifts for golfers and aspiring ones are more easily thought of.

Personalized retirement gifts to personalize golfing equipment is very simple. You could easily make personalized gifts by embroidering such items as golf club pouches or caddy covers. These can be knitted, if you are a knitter or by any similar craft which may use other materials.

Another good idea is to think about the apparel fashion of golfing which means to look at the clothing worn by golfers. You may even be able to establish a new fashion in golfing apparel by using your imagination to create an interesting design.

Normal gifts. The most common and usual method of getting a retirement gift for golfers is to go over to the nearest sports shop and get your retiree some of the things sold there. It may sound a little impersonal to just get the retiree a commercially made gift but then this may actually prove very useful if the retiree is still a novice or beginner golfer. Maybe you might want to get him a golf club set as this is the basic requirement to be able to play golf.

Furthermore, you may find some other accessories that your retiree golfer may still need but then perhaps you could also contribute your imagination on what things can be made to enhance the golfing equipment he may already have.

Shop bought golfing equipment is handy too, eg, you could make your retiree feel good, giving him a set of famous golf clubs, making him look like a pro.

Gags and Jokes The fun part of choosing to give a gag present instead is the humour these items can create. It also adds to the lighter aspect of the golf-playing retiree’s party and his friends will be able to take part in with smiles, laughs and jokey comments too.

The joke gift should be chosen very carefully as the gag gift may represent a sensitive matter for the retiree, especially if he is still a beginner. Joke present for golfers may be misunderstood and discourage their golfing education if they are upset by the idea emphasized by the joke gift you have given to them.

However, to veteran players who already know the game inside out, the gift of a good gag present on their retirement day would be very funny as they would already see golfing not only as a way to reduce their stress and get some exercise but to actually just have some fun as well.

People ought to view retirement gifts for golfers as just a simple method of encouraging your golfer friend to appreciate the funny side of life after his working life has ended.

Good luck if you are going to or planning a Golfer’s Retirement Party, but if you want to get a better understanding of retirement, please go to our website Retirement Planning. Get a totally unique version of this article from our article submission service

Golfing for Beginners: Part I

Friday, March 5th, 2010

The popularity of the game of golf has increased tremendously over the past forty-five years, giving us great champions like Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman, and Tiger Woods and world-renowned courses like Pinehurst, St. Andrews, Augusta National and the Blue Monster at Doral.

Why has golf become so popular these days? Its the opportunity to be outside, to get a good whole body workout, network with friends or business colleagues at a leisurely pace, and to play a game that you can never play perfectly.

Your achievements are tallied on your scorecard for all time and the desire to improve your game can encourage you to play again and again.

This is the first lesson for the novice golfer who doesn’t know anything about golfing.

The typical round of golf is played on a course of eighteen holes, each or which has its own ‘par’. Par is the total number of shots it should take a player to complete that hole, ie all the tee shots (drives), fairway shots, chips (short shots onto the green) and puts into the hole.

‘Par’ is determined by the length and difficulty of each hole and can range from three to six. So, if you get the golf ball in the hole in six shots on a ‘par six’ hole, you ‘made par’; if you make it in five, it’s a “birdie” or seven, a “bogie”.

‘Hazards’ or obstructions are usually placed before all the holes. Ponds, sand bunkers and trees are positioned in such a way as to make it more difficult to reach the green. Novice golfers should try to find a course with fewer hazards, which is therefore easier to play.

Players keep their own score of the total number of shots taken for each hole. After the eighteenth hole, they add up their scores and the one with the lowest is the winner.

It is important for beginner golfers to not take themselves too seriously. It takes a long time to get good at this game; even though the professionals make it look so easy.

Take a lesson or two at the start of your golfing ‘career’, because it will help you develop a proper swing and help you get off to a good start.

A Weight Loss Strategy For Teens

Friday, March 5th, 2010

No one has to read a study or a report to know that there are a lot of overweight or obese people in the USA and the UK. You can blame this on the food being sold or a lack of understanding, but the real bottom line is that you are the one who is putting that stuff into your mouth.

Most people do not think about it, but everyone has a choice whether to eat decent food or not. If you are seriously overweight, then you chose to allow yourself to get yourself into that state. No one else, you!

Nevertheless, there is always a way out and it is never too late. There are thousands of weight loss programs, so you should be able to find one that suits you. I made that sound easy and it should be, but people still have trouble picking one.

My advice is to read the weight loss advert aloud to yourself or a friend. Does it sound like BS? Then it probably is. Dump it. The bottom line is that you can only lose weight by expending more energy than you consume. Having said that there are a couple of ways of achieving that.

The two basic methods are either counting calories or counting carbohydrates, that is Weight Watchers or Atkins. Start by going to their web sites and reading about their philosophies. Choose the one that suits you and stick to it.

One note that I would like to stress here for teens is that at your time of life your body is going through a radical change. You are metamorphosing from a child to an adult and your body is filling up with hormones, you only had a little of before.

Let the change finish, before you start worrying too much. You were a bug, now you are a chrysalis and soon you will be a butterfly. Just wait and your body time to sort itself out.

There really is not much you can do to stop what your body has to do. Spots mean that you have poisons in you and your body wants to get rid of them. Help it by not putting any more junk into it. Keep your skin clean and make sure that everything that touches your skin is clean too. Hands, hair, pillow cases, et cetera.

Exercise! Now is the time to embed an exercise routine into your way of life. Exercise raises your rate of metabolism which helps you burn calories more quickly. If you can burn calories quickly, then you can allow yourself more treats.

The other point about exercise is that if you do not establish a discipline for exercise when you are young, then you will find it harder when you have your next bodily change in your forties or fifties.

The bottom line is not to worry too much about what you look like now, you are a chrysalis. Help your body out by eating healthily and take up a sport you enjoy and stick with it.

Not Having Illinois Medical Insurance Heightens Death Risks

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Forgoing Illinois medical insurance heightens death toll potential. As the health insurance reform bill remains unsettled, several research studies depict the risk of a higher mortality rate among the uninsured. From developing cardiovascular disease or cancer, to suffering from a traumatic injury, data indicates that being without Illinois medical insurance is merely a detrimental prospect.

A study of 1231 patients, recovering from head or neck cancers from 1998 through 2007 at the Pittsburgh Medical Center evaluated the survival rate of patients, who were uninsured to the insured. One hundred and twenty eight patients, who were on Medicaid or were without health insurance perished, illustrated a fifty percent survival rate. By comparison, 22 percent of the patients with medical coverage perished.

Similar mortality rate discrepancies were notable among traumatic injury sufferers. At Children\’s Hospital Boston and Harvard Medical School, researchers assessed statistics from the National Trauma Data Bank, where a database of some 2.7 million patient admissions to trauma centers is the United States. Investigating patient admissions from 2002 and 2006, researchers evaluated more than 680,000 adult medical records. The study correlated a significant link between the mortality rates of the uninsured patient versus the insured. Researchers tried to rework the data to eliminate any findings associated with age, race and gender; nonetheless, the statistics showed the same high mortality rate amongst individuals without insurance. Even more perplexing, Medicare members had a survival rate comparable to the insured patients.

Researchers compared hospital admissions, from 1998 to 2005 at the Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma and Critical Care, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, reviewing the mortality rate of 29,829 patient admissions. Sixty-eight percent of the admissions were uninsured patients. The data suggested a higher death rate among the non-insured, who were younger with fewer injuries than the surviving insured counterparts.

Although hospitals extend treatment, it remains unclear whether the higher death rate is attributable to the uninsured obtaining minimal medical care during hospitalization. While there have not been any studies about comparing the death toll of the uninsured to individuals with Illinois medical insurance, the Centers for Disease Control maintains data showing that the rate of Illinoisans not having Illinois medical insurance has been on the upswing for the last decade. The statistics of residents without Illinois medical insurance has been on a steady rise for the past decade.

In the interim, cardiovascular disease maintains its status as a leading killer United States. The American Heart Association made note of a 33 percent escalation of cardiovascular inpatient operations from 1996 to 2006. Given the emerging rate of cancer, heart disease diagnoses, a lack of health coverage foretells a fatal outcome.

Illinois medical insurance consultant, Michael Novelli asserts \”Despite the fact that cancer and heart disease are not preventable, people with medical coverage are more likely to have an earlier diagnosis, allowing for better medical care. So many managed care Illinois medical insurance plans are economical enough to slow down additional medical casualties.

Crock Pot Recipes

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

In America, most people call these electric cookers crock pots, whereas in the Great Britain they are usually called slow cookers. Crock pots by Rival, DeLonghi, Hamilton Beach, Cuisinart and Toastess are particularly good examples of advanced crock pots. Some of these crock pots are programmable, which allows the cook more flexibility that the slow cookers of twenty years did not.

The first crock pots had only an on/off switch and no temperature control. This meant that the meals you could cook with them were limited, if you used your crock pot for cooking food while you were out of the house or work for eight hours or more. Modern slow cookers like those crock pots mentioned above have changed all that. These days, modern crock pots are programmable.

These modern crock pots are very flexible and with the best of them, you can set the temperature that the slow cooker should function at and the duration of time it should cook for a bit like a microwave oven. For example, you could program a modern slow cooker to cook at, say, 180c for an hour and then 100c for two hours

Most people do not appreciate the features that modern crock pots have. Regrettably, there are still a lot of individuals who still believe that slow cookers are only any good for cooking rice, boiling soup or preparing cheap cuts of meat like scrag end of mutton. This is just not true any more, although manual crock pots were capable of more than that as well. Modern variable slow cookers can be used to make bread, cheesecake, custards and even sponges.

In fact, it is a good idea to get away from the old fashioned concepts people have about slow cookers and try to see them as an oven, which does not need a pot to cook in. Try the recipe underneath and see for yourself.

Where is Your Focus?

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Whatever you place your attention (focus) on in life is what you will find.

Many people would like to have one thing, but they are looking for something totally different. You may be asking what I mean by this. Please allow me to explain. \”Whatever you think about the majority of the time is what you will find and create in your life.\” This is not just a new age thought. This is a matter of fact.

Take a look around the room which you are currently sitting. As you look around, notice the color red. Now you will become aware of anything in the room that is the color red. It is the same for your life.

By putting your put your attention on negativity, devastation, loneliness, or lack, which is what you will see more of in your life. The contrary is true as well.

By focusing only on the positive things that are happening in your life, you are changing the habit of your thoughts. Now you will begin creating a happier life. This is not a new concept. However, it is still one of the most misused laws of attraction.

If you would like to create more positive things in your life, concentrate on what I call the Emotional/Spiritual Prototypes. This is one step beyond positive thinking. This is where you imagine something you desire. Now create the emotions of how you feel when you possess this particular thing. Imagine it being in your life every day. Do not focus on the thing, but on the feelings that particular thing will give you.

When you use the Emotional/Spiritual Prototype Technique, you are retraining your thinking and eliminating any thought that is not directed toward your intention. Now you are actually creating a void in the universe.

You create a void when you decide that your desire already exists. The universe always fills a vacuum with the corresponding thing.

Remember you have been thinking adversary thoughts for a long time so the initial changing of habits may take a few days. Hang in there by continuing to focus your thoughts only on the Emotional/Spiritual Prototypes and soon your desire will come.

Isn\’t it funny when you read about any successful person throughout history, they have all said exactly what I am sharing with you today. All successful people know the law of attraction exists and used it to achieve their greatness. If all successful people have used this technique to create their desires, don\’t you think you should stop for a moment and consider the validity and power of this technique.

The benefits of quitting smoking are not only an improvement in health and an increase in life span, but it can also have a positive effect on social life. Once a smoker stops this deadly addiction he or she will have a lower risk of developing cancer and heart disease. It will also mean that the ex-smoker will breathe in fresher air instead of cigarette smoke, which will mean less instances of coughing and breathlessness.

The benefits of stopping smoking are almost endless. For example, smoking can have an adverse effect on people\’s sexual health, dumping the habit would mean that the fertility rate would improve. Unlike previously, you\’ll have whiter teeth, fresher breath and a higher energy level. Furthermore, people around you will finally have fresh air to breathe. Sure, it brings in a lot of tax revenue and keeps some people in gainful employment, but then smokers also take more time off sick and spend more time at the doctor\’s than their non-smoking colleagues. Smokers reply that it calms their nerves, but so would other relaxation techniques such as yoga even sitting down. Let\’s face it, public mood has swung far against smoking with smokers more often than not being vilified and pitied these days. Smokers also look rather pathetic nipping out of the office, restaurant or pub for a cigarette every hour or so, don\’t they?
